Surf Rescue Certificate
The Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) is an important next step for our older Nippers as they transition from Junior Activities into active surf lifesaving. It is designed for members aged 13 years and over and provides the foundation skills needed to become part of a patrol team and assist with water safety.
Training develops practical skills in surf awareness, rescue techniques, CPR, first aid, communication and basic patrolling, with plenty of hands-on training in the surf. Candidates must also demonstrate their fitness by completing a 200-metre swim in five minutes or less before undertaking water training and assessment activities.
Once qualified, SRC members can participate in patrols as part of a patrol team and assist with water safety for Nippers, training and surf sport activities. Importantly for our Club, this means our young members begin putting their skills back into supporting the next generation of Nippers.
The SRC is also the natural stepping stone towards completing the Bronze Medallion from 15 years of age.
