Cadet Information

Cadet Program 2025–2026
As we gear up for the 2024–2025 season, our Cadet Program will continue to focus on developing surf skills, leadership, and teamwork in a fun and supportive environment.

This program is a great opportunity for young members to build confidence, grow their capabilities, and take the next step in their lifesaving journey. We’re looking forward to another season of challenge, connection, and coastal adventures at Moore Park Surf Life Saving Club.

Nipper Age Groups and Proficiency

Before a child can participate in any Nippers activity, they must successfully complete the Preliminary Skills Evaluation.
This assessment ensures that each child is evaluated on their ability and confidence in the water.

Every season all Nippers are required to complete their age-specific proficiency swim (download link for PDF).
This annual evaluation confirms that each participant has maintained the necessary swimming skills and water safety standards for their age group.

See flip cards below for specific ages and skills needed before starting nippers.

Nipper Parents

Our Nipper program wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of volunteers like you.
Each week, our club relies on the time and care of parents to help deliver fun, safe, and engaging sessions for every Nipper.

The best part? You don’t need to be a lifesaver—or even a swimmer.
There’s a role for everyone, from helping on the beach and setting up equipment, assisting Age Manager, assisting with BBQs, fundraising, and age-group activities.

Every contribution—big or small—helps create a memorable experience for the kids and keeps our beach community thriving.
By volunteering, you’re not only supporting your own child—you’re helping to build a stronger club and a safer community.

You’ll also join a friendly network of families, make new friends, and gain a deeper appreciation for the vital role Surf Life Saving plays in our coastal lifestyle.

Roles That Don’t Require Any Awards or Qualifications

These are perfect for parents looking to lend a hand without formal training:

  • Beach set-up and pack-down
  • Canteen or BBQ helper
  • Fundraising support
  • Gear and equipment maintenance
  • Club Photographer (requires an SLSQ pass)
  • Uniform coordinator
  • Parent assistant
Roles That Require an Award

For parents ready to take the next step and gain qualifications, these roles offer rewarding ways to get more involved:
