Surf Life Saving Pathway

Journey with us together in creating stronger and healthier families; safer beaches and engaging communities.

Share the load for beach safety. 

We have clear training opportunities and pathways. What we need from you is a commitment of 4 patrolling hours a month or 25 hours in a year. 

Potential Pathway

 
PREREQUISITES
  • Be a minimum of 13 years old on the day of course commencement
  • For over 18 years olds, hold a Blue Card
  • Able to commit to 25 patrol hours in a year
 
PREREQUISITES
Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC)
  • As above
  • Able to complete a 200m pool swim in 5 minutes or less
Advanced Resuscitation Training (ART)
  • Be of 15 years of age
  • Proficient in SLSA First Aid 
 
PREREQUISITES
Bronze Medallion
  • As above
  • Able to complete a 400m pool swim in 9 minutes or less
Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) Crew 
  • As above
  • Hold SLSA Bronze Medallion
 
PREREQUISITES
Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) driver
  • Be at least 17 years of age on the date of final assessment
  • Hold a current recreational marine drivers license (needs to be obtained externally to the surf life saving education structure) to meet local state marine licensing requirements
  • Able to commit to 25+ patrol hours in a year

Applicants must be also hold the following awards:

  • SLSA Bronze Medallion
  • IRB Crew Certificate
  • Radio Operators Certificate

  • Hold Advanced Resuscitation Techniques (ART) certificate
  • Hold a SLSA Bronze Medallion
  • Able to commit to 25+ patrol hours in a year
